چکیده

A single-center, retrospective review between 2011 and 2018. total of 156 patients were treated for isolated blunt vertebral artery injuries (16 bilateral) underwent computed tomography angiography within 24 hours presentation. Injury location was classified as: V1 = subclavian origin to the entrance into C-6 transverse foramen; V2 C2-C6 V3 from C2 foramen magnum dura; V4 intradural. There 79 grade I (≤25% luminal stenosis), 39 II (>25% 5 III (pseudoaneurysm), 49 IV (occlusion), 0 V (extravasation or arteriovenous fistula) injuries. Three strokes detected before treatment initiation. Most (135) with aspirin alone, 2 heparin, 1 Plavix, 18 did not receive (grade required multiple surgeries other problems). Only two switched anticoagulation injury progression. No during hospitalization any patient. The risk stroke after cervical is low. Aspirin efficacious in injuries, but there are limited data regarding

Endovascular treatment of traumatic injuries of the vertebral artery.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE There are a few reports regarding the treatment of traumatic vertebral arteriovenous fistulas and pseudoaneurysms. Our aim was to describe the clinical and angiographic results of endovascular therapy for traumatic injuries of the vertebral artery. MATERIALS AND METHODS The clinical and angiographic features of 18 traumatic injuries of the vertebral artery during an 8-y...

Management of vertebral artery injuries following non-penetrating cervical trauma.

• Conventional catheter angiography is recommended for the diagnosis of VAI in selected patients after blunt cervical trauma, particularly if concurrent endovascular therapy is a potential consideration, and can be undertaken in circumstances in which CTA is not available. • Magnetic resonance imaging is recommended for the diagnosis of VAI after blunt cervical trauma in patients with a complet...

Post-traumatic vertebral artery dissection.

Correspondence: HG, e-mail: . Received 30 October 2009 and revised version accepted 15 July 2010. Competing interests: none declared. CT angiogram showed eccentric contrast in the left vertebral artery from just after its origin to the level of the C4 vertebral body suggestive of dissection (Figure 2). He was anticoagulated with enoxeparin. He walked independently when he l...

Minimal invasive management of traumatic transection of the vertebral artery

Stab wounds to the neck can be potentially lethal. They are often associated with vascular injury of the carotid artery and jugular vein. Injury of the vertebral artery is rarely seen. The injury can vary from severe bleeding after transection with hemorrhage into the surrounding soft tissues of the neck to dissection and separation of the intimal lining from the subjacent media of an artery an...

Incidence of blunt cerebrovascular injuries associated with craniocervical distraction injuries

Study design: Retrospective case review. Introduction: Ischemic insults from blunt cerebrovascular injuries (BCVI) can lead to significant cranial and spinal injury. Specific spine fracture patterns have been identified as more predictive of BCVI, such as vertebral subluxation, fractures through the foramen transversarium, and C1 through C3 fractures. Adequate screening and early treatment has ...
